Instructor: Karen Safire
Karen first got her first taste of yoga in the 1970’s by tagging along with her father to his yoga class at the local “Y” in southern California. She began studying seriously in New York City in 1994 and received her Hatha Yoga teaching certification from Cyndi Lee, director of OM Yoga Center, in New York City in 1997. She became certified in Yoga of the Heart, yoga for cardiac rehabilitation, created by Nischala Joy Devi in 1999. In 2003 Karen received her Relax and Renew, restorative yoga, teaching certification from Judith Lasater and in 2006 she received her advanced Relax and Renew teaching certification also from Judith Lasater. Now, she regularly studies yoga and yoga therapeutics with Karin Stephan and Yoga for Scoliosis with Deborah Wolk. Karen is also a registered yoga teacher with the national certifying organization Yoga Alliance. Currently she teaches group and private yoga classes in New York City and Westchester. She is also the co-founder of Receptive Nest, a yogic approach to fertility which offers workshops to people thinking about or trying to conceive. The beneficial affects yoga has on the physical and emotional challenges many of us face has always interested Karen. In Karen’s class one can expect to find healthy anatomical alignment, a feeling of calmness and clarity, freedom of breathing all with a touch of humor.
