What is structural therapeutics?
During a Structural Therapeutic session we seek to uncover the structural and habitual imbalances in the body that cause discomfort and sometimes pain. Starting from the soles of the feet, body alignment and mechanics are addressed using basic yoga poses and props. Instead of focusing on one specific issue or place in the body, a person is observed holistically to address not only the current symptoms, but also the underlying issues that may be at the root of the problem.
Why is this different from a general private yoga session?
A Structural Therapeutic Yoga Session is ideal for the student who can’t safely and comfortably attend a group class due to an acute or chronic issue. The session is tailored to meet the student where they are and create an appropriate plan.
At the end of the first session, we may decide that a group class is appropriate with certain modifications, and/or a series of specific poses “homework” are assigned to the student to practice on their own at home. Some students find a series of 3-5 Structural Therapeutic Session is helpful to establish a routine and fine-tune their “homework". Often “homework” is modified/changed or added on to depending on the results of the week’s work.
Some Issues We Can Address:
