Carlene Brown was born in the beautiful, sunny, laid-back island of Jamaica where she earned a degree in computer science from the University of the West Indies. She later migrated to the United States and spent several years working as a computer analyst with a major financial company on Wall Street. It was during this time that she experienced first-hand the effects of what stress does to the body, and her passion for massage therapy was born. Carlene quickly enrolled in the Finger Lakes School of Massage Therapy in Mount Kisco, NY and is now a licensed massage therapist in the State of New York. Carlene believes that all her life experiences have ignited her passion, and being a massage therapist is her true calling. She says, “I absolutely love it. I now feel alive. I brim with excitement just knowing I can help my clients feel relaxed and stress-free again just by one massage.”

Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have a holistic approach, taking into account not just a disease. People are viewed as a complex matrix of energy in which the mind and body are unified. Acupuncture is the placement of tiny needles along meridians in the body where Qi Chi, or life force travels. The points are chosen in accordance to a tailored diagnosis that may be revised at each visit. The points have been mapped out by the Chinese over a period of 2,000 years. The goal of the therapy is to restore the free flow of Qi. When the flow of Qi is blocked, the body may experience pain, or fatigue, or other forms of malfunction.
Acupuncture can be useful in treating a variety of conditions, including:
- Vertigo
-
Poor circulation
-
Rashes
-
Tooth ache
-
Colitis
-
Arthritis
-
Fibromyalgia

Thai Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient and therapeutic healing art that has been practiced for over 2,500 years, to maintain health and vitality. This form of massage fluidly combines acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic Principles, yoga-like stretches, joint mobilization, muscle compression and energy work.
Thai massage works off the belief that tightened muscles lead to the diminished flow of energy in your body. When energy can't flow freely, you become inflexible, suffer pain and feel stiff. Over time, this leads to shortened muscles and connective tissue that affects your posture, immunity and organ function -- all of which speed up aging and disability.
A typical massage is performed on a cushioned floor mat with the client wearing comfortable clothing. The practitioner can use their whole body, hands, feet, thumbs, knees and elbows, combined with conscious touch, breathing and rhythmic touch. Much of the focus is along the energy meridians (called Sen lines in Thai Massage). The process is extremely meditative and clients report feeling ‘longer’, ‘expanded’, ‘looser’ and ‘deeply relaxed’.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese energy balancing technique that promotes physical, mental and emotional well-being. It is a gentle, hands-on modality that reduces stress and creates the relaxation response in the body.
What to Expect in a Reiki Session
Reiki can be received while resting on a massage table, or by relaxing into a combination of restorative yoga poses. In restorative yoga, your body is completely supported by pillows and props. This quiets the nervous system, and allows you to fully surrender into the relaxation response and the flow of reiki energy. A session is about 1 hour long. Please wear comfortable clothing.

After several students confessed that they had felt an "energy" in those assists, she studied with ReikiMaster Ginny Mackles and became a certified Reiki practitioner in 2010.
The Feldenkrais Method

Functional Integration lessons, a form of The Feldenkrais Method is practiced with the student fully clothed, lying on a padded table. Some lessons may be in sitting and standing as well. In this type of lesson, the practitioner connects with the student’s skeleton and nervous system through gentle touch and manual techniques. Each session is unique, afterward, with students typically reporting feeling relaxed and moving with greater ease and less pain, along with improved posture and breathing.
Each lesson will address your individual movement patterns and needs. You will learn about your body’s habitual ways of moving, as Patricia guides you in lessons centered around specific movement patterns.
Functional Integration lessons will enhance your Feldenkrais and yoga group class experience, as well as improve your self-organization in your daily activities or specific sports activities.

Patricia was introduced to yoga in her mid-20’s. What began as a form of exercise, soon became one of the best teachers in her life, and started her on the path of self-awareness. Her eagerness to learn more about yoga led her to a teacher training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2002, and later, a 500 hour teaching certificate in 2004. She counts herself lucky to have visited Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, in India, in 2008. Patricia has had many teachers including, Judith Hanson Lasater, Ana Forest, Shiva Rea, and Leslie Kaminoff. Always wanting to learn more about movement and ways to prevent and treat chronic pain, Patricia began studying The Feldenkrais Method. The Method deepened her understanding of her movement patterns and consequently of her yoga practice. Her style of teaching reflects a blend of the two practices. Teaching others how to find ease in their movement and life is one of her greatest passions.
