Kids are not just mini adults. Teaching yoga and mindfulness to children effectively takes a particular set of skills. Yoga Haven’s Kids Mindfulness & Yoga Teacher Training will give you the tools to work with school age children in a variety of settings. Yoga and mindfulness practices give kids and teens the tools to better understand themselves, foster their well-being and develop a sense of empowerment and achievement. Schools and parents are increasingly looking to this field as a way to manage high levels of stress. During this training, we will look at research in the science of mindfulness and delve into why and how yoga and mindfulness can help improve focus/concentration, support creativity and promote self-esteem. I have already recommended this training to a friend. This weekend made me very aware of how important it is to introduce the practice of being mindful to children. After spending the weekend in Clare’s training, I feel prepared to do so. Clare was very organized. She included lectures, personal experiences and group practices for us. She structured out time together so that I remained interested and entertained.
Clare is fantastic- her passion and authenticity really came through. While I feel like I could definitely teach a class after this training, I also came away from the class with tools to use in other ways-for myself, with my children, and with my employees.
Clare Mottola has been practicing yoga and mindfulness since 2008. When not teaching at Yoga Haven, Clare chairs the Theatre and Dance Department at The Fieldston School, where in 2014 she created and implemented their Mindfulness Initiative. What started as a high school science class has flourished into a school-wide program. Clare has studied with Jack Kornfield and Dan Siegel, and studied school-specific mindfulness curriculum through Mindful Schools. She received her 200 Yoga Teacher Certification and Kids Yoga Certification at Yoga Haven.
