Kids Yoga Teacher Training

Kids yoga is becoming more popular than ever. Children and teens experience an enormous amount of stress. There are many contributing factors: peers, school, families, and competition. We know that stress can affect them physically, mentally and emotionally. Yoga gives kids and teens the tools to better understand themselves, foster their well-being and develop a sense of empowerment and achievement. It also builds a child’s ability to feel compassion and empathy. Yoga is a holistic approach, supporting students physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth. Yoga Haven’s Kids Yoga Teacher Training will give you the tools to teach children in grades K-8, with an emphasis on teaching in schools. We will look at research in the science of mindfulness and delve into why and how yoga can help improve focus/concentration, support creativity and promote self-esteem. The program will cover:
    • Why children should do yoga
    • Benefits of yoga for children
    • Basics of teaching a kids yoga class
    • How to foster a non-competitive environment
    • Fun and creative asana
    • Partner poses
    • Child appropriate pranayama
    • Concentration games
    • Child friendly mindfulness practices
    • Relaxation exercises

I have already recommended this training to a friend. This weekend made me very aware of how important it is to introduce the practice of being mindful to children. After spending the weekend in Clare’s training, I feel prepared to do so.  Clare was very organized. She included lectures, personal experiences and group practices for us. She structured out time together so that I remained interested and entertained.
